EMMC 2023 Year End Review

Between global warfare and Taylor Swift fanfare, 2023 will certainly be a year to remember. As the EMMC looks back on this past year, we have much to be proud of and even more to look forward to. Let’s take a second to highlight some of the exciting contributions of our team and what’s in store in 2024:

  • We spoke at key industry conferences including ExhibitorLive, Event Marketer Summit, EMEC Brighton, and Event Tech to explain event measurement best practices. In the coming year we will continue to use conferences to share our mission and improve measurement industry-wide.

  • We launched our Event Measurement Online Forum, a monthly peer-to-peer open session for EMMC members to discuss challenges and solicit advice about all things related to event measurement. With steady attendance, we plan to continue these monthly meetings to benefit our member base.

  • One topic that came up during our Online Forum was that of measuring “engagement.” In July, we stated that the EMMC does not endorse engagement as a credible metric, but offered suggestions on what could be measured along those lines.

  • We partnered with the Power of Events, a UK not-for-profit, to support improved data analytics across the UK

  • We spent time focusing on new social value metrics. To this end, we’ve developed a comprehensive playbook for how to measure diversity, equity, and inclusion event efforts. The major undertaking has been a labor of love and we are excited to share it with the world. Currently, we are working with a notable media outlet to announce this guidance and make it available for members. In the next year, we plan to highlight best practices related to sustainability and other social value metrics.

  • We’re also revamping our core metrics guidance which will be shared with members in the coming months.

It has been an exciting year and we look forward to more great things ahead in 2024. We encourage you to join us in our mission to promote effective experiential measurement across the globe.
